Easter Monday Acts 2:14, 22-23

Mary Magdalene went from the tomb “fearful yet overjoyed.” Can you imagine what was flooding her heart? The intensity of the shift from profound grief over Jesus’ crucifixion to the joy of his miraculous resurrection is too much for the human mind alone to grasp. All that Jesus said was true—he was and still is for all of us the embodiment of God’s abundant love. Peter and all of Jesus’ followers are new men and women, on fire with their mission to proclaim God’s love. They HAD to tell the story of Jesus—and WE HAVE to do the same today. Jesus repeatedly says in his resurrection appearances “do not be afraid.” Let us open ourselves to the gifts of the Holy Spirit to take courage in those words and preach the truth of God’s love for all by our words and deeds. Jesus is risen—we are an Easter people—let our hearts and voices proclaim ALLELUIA! Good and Gracious God, thank you for sharing yourself with us. Like the early disciples, may we be filled with that great passion to proclaim your boundless love. |
