As we pray with the Scriptures today we may notice two healings. In the Gospel Jesus appears to two downcast disciples. They recognize him by “the burning of our hearts within us”. Healed of their despondency and “slowness of heart” they enthusiastically return to tell those gathered in Jerusalem of their experience. Two of those with whom they spoke were Peter and John. In the first reading these are the disciples we see preaching in the name of Jesus and healing the crippled beggar who jumps up and praises God. What might prevent us from recognizing Jesus in our midst? Are we enthusiastic followers of the Risen Savior? Do our actions preach the Good News? | |
