"Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts?” The Apostles and disciples have heard Mary Magdalene’s account of seeing the risen Jesus and the two disciples who met Him on the road to Emmaus but they still have trouble believing. If they who had seen and heard so much had doubts, is it any wonder that we sometimes have them? No, that’s our human nature. That’s why we admire someone like Mother Theresa so. We know now of the doubts she had during her lifetime but they didn’t keep her from caring for each poor, sick person she encountered as if it were Jesus, himself. “Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts?” | |
