In today's gospel Jesus appears, first to Mary Magdalene and then to the two disciples on the road. When they go to tell the others that they have seen Jesus, both Mary and the two disciples are disbelieved. It is only when Jesus appears to them that the believe that he has risen from the dead and walks the earth. Jesus upbraids them for not receiving his messengers with open hearts and for not believing them. Are there times in our own lives when we are like the disciples? Do we also turn away from God's messengers? Is this because we reject the messenger or perhaps we find the message too difficult for us. Whatever our reason, let us, this Easter Season, pray for the courage and grace to hear the good news of Jesus from whom ever and where ever it comes. Then with our hearts afirelet us take that "good news" to heart and preach it to all in our world. | |
