Pentecost Sunday Acts 2:1-11

Recently the power of nature has been experienced in the strong winds that caused the break down of communications, the destruction of homes and property, and in some cases, the loss of life. Indeed, that was a manifestation of physical power. The feast of Pentecost reveals for us a spiritual power. The terrified disciples were fearful and powerless. They needed the transforming presence of Christ and his Spirit to change their attitude and enable them to act with courageous energy. The gift of Peace and other spiritual gifts and energies moved them to action. The same Spirit of Christ is within each of us today. Do we manifest that divine power? Are we generous with our gifts? Do we speak out for the truth? Do we call, write, or spend time with someone in need? Do we allow the mysterious movement of God within us to become a reality for those we meet? As Paul stated "...the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." | |
