The readings for today remind us of God’s presence in our lives, and his presence even in people we dislike. Think about this: God loves you just as much as he loves that person who laughed at you, who mocked you, and even who blackmailed you. That’s really hard to understand. Our nature as imperfect humans is to put ourselves above those people who scorn us. God asks us, especially in these readings, to put that type of behavior behind us. As hard as that sounds, God expects us to. It’s possible to love others as much as I love myself but it’s a life process, a journey. Oh to have a “leveled” heart. A leveled heart puts everyone on the same plane, and loves everyone equally. This journey to a heart so pure, with help from God can be accomplished. With strong faith, we can
accomplish what God asks in these readings. If we try and love others who knows what will happen. Let’s start by never forgetting the gift that life truly is, and spend time with God everyday in prayer, reflection, and the people around us.
