Lent is a time of conversion and change of heart. We have all learned that this cannot be achieved on our own. Hence, we turn to God, and pray for help. This is what today’s readings are all about, petitioning God to assist us in our daily needs and struggles

Esther shows us how to pray. She turns toward God with persistence, confidence and humility because she realizes that without God she cannot succeed. “Help me who am alone, and have no help but you.” Her prayer shows her love and trust in this faithful God of her ancestors.

In the Gospel, Jesus encourages us to ask and seek from God what we need. He assures us that we will be given good things from our Father. It is up to us to pray to the loving, caring Father Jesus has revealed to us. Our prayers will be heard and answered, often in ways we could never imagine, and always with love. We have Jesus’ word on that!
