Jeremiah 17: 5-10
Luke 16: 19-31

A Lazarus sits at the gate of each of our hearts calling out to us for a gift that only we can give.
No one was more aware of the Lazarus at her gate than Mother Teresa. It is she who heightened the world’s consciousness of the poorest of the poor. To us in developed countries she said: “There is a poverty of intimacy, a poverty of loneliness, of lack of love. There is no greater sickness in the world than that one.”

Let each of us visit the gate of our hearts to discover that Lazarus whose poverty cries out to us for a loving response, and let us like Mother Teresa, “do something beautiful for God.”
