Do you remember how you felt when you found something you valued that was lost?
Each of today’s scripture readings describe our God as a God who removes guilt; pardons sin; does not persist in anger; delights in clemency; is compassionate, faithful. (Micah 7)

Psalm 103 “The Lord is kind and merciful.”

In St. Luke’s gospel Jesus addresses the Scribes, Pharisees and us. He tells the parable of “The Prodigal Son.” The father speaks
lovingly to his angry older son. “My son, you should rejoice because your brother was dead and is found.” Then the celebration began. The older son could not rejoice nor celebrate that his younger brother had returned home.

Do we remember who the giver of our blessings is? Are we eager to celebrate, rejoice when others receive Good News?

As we continue our Lenten Journey, let us pray that we will not grumble at others’ successes, but rejoice and be thankful for all that is good.
