John 5: 31 – 47

“John was like a lamp, burning and shining, and you were willing for a while to enjoy his light.”

Jesus speaks of his cousin John giving testimony on his behalf. Many were taken up by John’s method of witnessing. Perhaps even his eccentric way was a sort of magnet. John proclaimed with his life and breath the greatness of the Lord. Ultimately, John gave his life for that witness. We are also called to give testimony to the glory of Jesus and his mission.

This Lent let us reflect on the quality of our witness. Do we shed light on the Savior? Do we step aside and direct people to the love God has in store for them? Lord, let me think less of me and more of you. Let my ways illumine the path to you for all those with whom I travel the road of life.
