"O my people, I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live,…"

In our First Reading from Ezekiel, we have a beautiful verse of hopefulness when our hearts are weary and broken, when despair seems to take over … for we are called to remember The Promise given to each us that through the Spirit, we can be transformed into new life…if we BELIEVE.

Martha had such a faith. She believed, and called on Jesus' power to resurrect her brother Lazarus from the dead. We are also told that Jesus' wept and felt her pain but he did not remain in this moment of sadness. He called out to God for help he called out believing he would be heard.

When we feel we are at wits end, may we have the courage and strength to BELIEVE that our prayers will be heard by our God and open ourselves to the Spirit who wants so much to transform us from death into new life.
