OUR MOTHERHOUSE

Just north of the Village of Amityville on the east side of Albany Avenue you will find our Motherhouse Complex. On the land stands the small original Novitiate, a building that existed when our Sisters came out from Brooklyn, New York in 1876. Rosary Hall, the building that was fashioned on the Holy Cross Monastery in Regensburg, was begun immediately in 1876.

In 1962 ground was broken for the newer building of St. Albert which was originally designed as a college for sister students. Over the years these buildings have been remodeled, renovated and adapted to fit the needs of our congregation and its mission. We share this land with Dominican Village, our senior housing, Sophia Garden, our organic farm, St. Dominic’s Chapel, on the hill, and our cemetery where our Sisters who have gone before us rest in peace.  It is for us, “holy ground” and all are welcome in this place.
