PRAYER
The Dominican Religious is constantly aware of her need for prayer. It is in prayer, both communal and personal, that her presence to God and God’s to her is deepened and expanded. Communal celebration of the Eucharist, the source and summit of Christian life, is a sign of unity and the bond of charity among the Sisters. Communal celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours further unites the religious community in its praise of God.
"Spiritual Life" - A People Made One As members of the Worldwide Order of Preachers, the Dominican Sisters of Amityville live our lives according to the Four Pillars of Dominican Tradition; Prayer, Community, Study and Mission. These four aspects of our lives are woven into our daily witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As daughters of Dominic, we live among God’s people sharing our hope and joy as Dominic did in the thirteenth century striving to live in a way that calls others to know, love and follow our brother Jesus. Through our contemplation of the gospels in prayer and study we are propelled forward to action in our community living and our preaching. We partner with all those whose journey parallels our own. We are all on the path to- Becoming Dominican – a livelong journey. . . If you would like to request prayers, please send your request to amityvilleop@amityop.org. |
